Update: National Minimum Wage and Award Changes from 1 July 2025

The Fair Work Commission has announced that from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2025, the National Minimum Wage and minimum award wages will increase by 3.5% .fairwork.gov.au

As a result:

  • The National Minimum Wage will rise from $915.90 to $948.00 per week (based on a 38-hour week).

  • The hourly rate will increase from $24.10 to $24.95.

  • Casual employees who are award/agreement-free remain entitled to the 25% casual loading, bringing their minimum hourly rate to $31.19 .

This adjustment impacts approximately 2.6 million workers, including those covered by modern awards and the National Minimum Wage. The increase is designed to address the erosion of real wages due to past inflationary pressures, with the Commission noting that inflation has now returned to the Reserve Bank of Australia's target range .

In addition to wage increases, the Superannuation Guarantee rate will rise from 11.5% to 12% effective 1 July 2025 .
